One of the regular file format used in digital cameras is JEPG which compresses unnecessary information from the files before images are being saved. However, the size of the files can still be bigger. RAW file format is regularly used with size of 10 to 20 megabytes where-as higher quality JEPG pictures generally run with 1 to 4 megabytes.
